What is Somatic Experiencing?

Somatic Experiencing is a modality that encourages regulation in the central nervous system by working with and assisting resolution of accumulated stress responses such as fight, flight or freeze.

It recognizes that our nervous system health greatly impacts our day to day experience.

It is a body-oriented therapeutic model applied in a variety of professional settings including but not limited to psychotherapy, medicine and coaching, on a multidisciplinary intersection of physiology, psychology, ethology, biology, neuroscience, indigenous healing practices, and medical biophysics, according to Somatic Experiencing International.

What can Somatic Experiencing do?

This resolution can lead to increased resiliency, more instances of rest and digest, greater ease, the ability to be more present with all of life, and even increase capacity for joy, rest and ease.

What is Somatic Touch?

Somatic Touch works directly within the nervous system, bringing regulation to the kidney/adrenals and brain stem to create greater ease within the central nervous system.  Regulation is essential to learning, cooperation, and building relationships.  This approach is related to the work of Peter Levine, Stephen Porges, Stephen Terrell, Kathy Kain and many others.

What can Somatic Touch do?

Over time, this can have the effect of fostering greater regulation in the nervous system, increasing the parasympathetic state, which can assist the body to move more easily into instances of rest and digest.
